Akbar Javadi - University of Exeter

Akbar Javadi

Professor of Geotechnical Engineering, University of Exeter

Akbar Javadi is a Professor of Geotechnical Engineering at the University of Exeter. He has over 28 years of research, teaching and consulting experience in various disciplines of engineering. He is a chartered engineer and Fellow of Institution of Civil Engineers. His research interests include concrete 3D printing, reuse of waste geomaterials, development and applications of numerical modelling techniques and computer models for a wide range of engineering systems, including thermo-hydro-mechanical modelling of unsaturated soils. 

He has completed, as the Coordinator, an EU funded H2020 Marie Curie RISE project (GeoRes–Geomaterials from Waste to Resource) with 20 academic and industrial partners. He currently leads Exeter University’s contribution to a Horizon Europe Marie Curie Staff Exchange project, UPGRADE (21 partners), looking at how different geomaterial wastes from construction, mining and dredging industries can be upgraded and reused as resource. He also recently completed a KTP project on development of digital twins for monitoring and proactive maintenance of underground pipe networks. He is also a Co-investigator on an EPSRC funded project on image-driven subject-specific modelling of spine. 

The results of his research have been published in over 450 technical publications in international journals, book chapters, conference proceedings, and research reports.
