UKCS 2026 Thursday Morning Session

Continuing our release of seminar content from this year’s UK Concrete Show, we’re pleased to share that the Thursday morning session is now available to watch on demand.

Delivered in the Concrete Connect Seminar Theatre, this session highlights current advances in precast concrete and modern repair strategies, with expert insight into design efficiency, durability, specification and long-term asset performance.

Chaired by Susannah Streeter, the session features presentations from Andrea Charlson, Senior Built Environment Sustainability Specialist and Circular Economy Lead at The Concrete Centre, and Christian Stone, Lead Materials Scientist and Technical Expert at Concrete Preservation Technologies.

Representing The Concrete Centre and Concrete Preservation Technologies, the speakers share practical perspectives on lowering the carbon footprint of precast concrete and improving the durability and effectiveness of concrete repair.

The session covers:

  • Practical pathways to lower-carbon precast concrete through sustainable design and modern methods of construction

  • Key themes from the latest industry guidance and examples of innovative projects

  • The causes and consequences of the incipient anode, or halo effect, in patch repairs

  • Why some common repair strategies can lead to premature deterioration

  • Treatment options and the performance considerations behind today's repair technologies

Whether you attended the session live or are catching up online, this session offers valuable insights for engineers, manufacturers, contractors and asset owners seeking to improve quality, resilience and whole-life value across the built environment.
