Moasure ONE

Moasure

Moasure

Product name:

Moasure ONE

Overview & Innovation:

The Moasure ONE motion measurement device allows users to measure complex spaces and areas, whilst seamlessly integrating them with CAD software. Inertial sensors, accelerometers, and gyros capture X, Y, and Z coordinates when the device is moved from one place to another. Three-dimensional spaces can be reviewed on-screen, making it easy to calculate the gradient, rise, run, or height difference between any two points. Once measuring is complete, a detailed drawing of the shape, in 2D or 3D, can be previewed with a smartphone or tablet. Users can also measure multiple shapes relative to each other in one, single measurement, while Layers enables users to measure shapes within an area and produce a comprehensive on-screen diagram of all Layers positioned relative to each other. Motion-measuring technology takes measurements regardless of obstructions, such as rising ground, large bushes, or trees. It can also capture a 3D terrain map of the site, and instantly visualise it. Users simply switch from the 2D contour view to a 3D terrain map.

Atlantis concrete mixer

SKAKO Concrete

Skako

Product name:

SKAKO Atlantis concrete mixer

Overview & Innovation:

The SKAKO Atlantis planetary concrete mixer is designed to optimise mixing, cleaning, discharging, energy consumption, and maintenance and safety in everyday use. Quicker and cleaner, with less manpower needed during operation than its predecessor (the SKAKO SM mixer), the Atlantis also requires 50% less cleaning time. It discharges 23% faster, and includes a self-lubricating gear in the oil sump. The Atlantis’ unique side opening service doors enable it to be accessed for maintenance without the fear of a confined space, unlike other traditional mixers which have access through the mixer top. This can help reduce operating and maintenance costs while facilitating the quick and easy replacement of wear parts. Covers on the mixer protect essential utilities, such as water and electrics, meaning that the supporting infrastructure around the mixer can be prolonged in an otherwise harsh, dusty environment. The Atlantis creates shifting pressure and vacuum zones, eliminating dead zones and speeding up the mixing process to produce homogeneous concrete. In turn, this facilitates cleaning, keeps the concrete from getting trapped, and prevents a new batch from being mixed with old concrete, speeding up the emptying and increasing productivity.

Graphene

The University of Manchester

Graphene Engineering Innovation Centre

Product name:

Graphene

Overview & Innovation:

Graphene is a one-atom-thick layer of carbon atoms arranged in a hexagonal lattice which was first isolated from graphite at The University of Manchester (UoM) in 2004. Over the past 20 years scientists at the UoM have found it is possible to use graphene’s unique properties across a range of products and applications. One of the emerging applications is concrete and construction materials. It has been proven that using graphene-based materials as an additive in both traditional and low carbon concrete systems can enhance mechanical properties such as compressive, tensile and flexural strength. The inclusion of graphene also brings secondary benefits such as reduced porosity and shrinkage, as well as a reduction in crack propagation. The Graphene Engineering Innovation Centre (GEIC), located in the Masdar Building at UoM, has world-class facilities and resources supported by experienced and knowledgeable applications engineers and internationally renowned academics, working across a broad range of novel technologies. The company work directly with industrial partners to scale up technology for real world commercial applications.

McPhee Mixers

McPhee Mixers

Product name:

Mixer Anti-Rollover Technology

Overview & Innovation:

Each year, in the UK alone, around 40 concrete mixers roll over on the public highway. These rollovers occur due to multiple reasons, but mainly the mixer going too fast – or the drum spinning too fast – as the vehicle changes direction. McPhee has lowered the water tank on the mixer reducing the COG by 4ft, and added life-saving mechanical anti-roll cages around the drum rollers, decreasing the risk of the mixer rolling over by more than three times. These measures attack the two biggest causes of mixer rollover and driver/public death in the industry.

AKK series construction mesh welding lines

EUROBEND GmbH

Eurobend

Product name:

AKK series construction mesh welding lines

Overview & Innovation:

This new design eliminates all idle times and at least doubles productivity in comparison to conventional welding lines. It’s also capable of producing large/small batch orders consecutively without any downtime. Its compact system layout requires minimum floor space and is equipped with the patented Automatic Wire Orientation System (AWOS), allowing the use of a high-speed straightening module for line wire feeding. The AWOS absorbs all wire straightening imperfections from the roller straightener, and the system ensures perfectly flat mesh panels regardless of wire and straightening quality. Single coil replaces all line wire de-coiling stations, where a double line and cross wire de-coiling station ensures continuous operation. As a result, minimal stock of wire spools/coils are required, and the necessity for large stock of ready mesh as in conventional welding lines is eliminated.
